About Me

I have spent more than 20 years in public education and still believe it can change everything.

I started as a classroom teacher, moved into state-level work, had a brief detour to be a professional beekeeper, then built career pathways across an entire county as a workforce development leader, served as a district Superintendent, and now lead human resources and labor relations for a Southern California school district. Along the way, I co-authored more than $28 million in competitive grants.

I also serve as Executive Director of NewCo Foundation, where the work is focused on giving students real-world work experience in high school, because our kids deserve a complete redesign of business as usual in order to prepare for the changing world.

My particular obsessions include Career Technical Education, AI in schools, HR systems that actually treat people like people, and supporting doctoral candidates through the dissertation process.

I have taught at UMass Global Campus and California Lutheran University and hold a PhD in curriculum and instruction. When I’m not working, you can find me camping or backpacking somewhere without good cell service, on purpose.
